About this episode
Some days the noise is louder than your own thinking. The laundry, the texts, the deadlines, the worry about what someone else will say if you step forward. In this episode of the YES! Women's Network Podcast, Michele Morley talks with Marco Lopez, a peak performance strategist, speaker, author, and father of five who helps leaders quiet the noise in their minds so they can think clearly, decide well, and do their best work.
Marco is the founder of Mind Tune and the author of "Tune In: The Human Edge in an Age of Noise." He has worked with more than 5,000 leaders across four continents, and his path ran from technology executive to professionally trained opera singer to strategist. That background shows up in the way he talks about clarity. He does not treat it as a personality trait you either have or do not have. He treats it as something you can practice.
Marco Lopez on why chasing money can pull you off your own path
Marco grew up with a wide mix of interests: music, drawing, languages, different cultures, and a childhood full of animals. When people pushed him toward one profession, none of it felt like enough. As he put it, he would have had to shut off part of himself to fit.
In college, a professor at BYU gave him advice that shaped everything after: just do what you like. That led Marco to study music, Spanish, and Portuguese, to major in Latin American studies, and to minor in business so he could find a creative use for what he loved. He watched other people follow the money instead, and he is glad he listened to what he liked.
"Even your financial value you find when you learn to listen to yourself."
His metaphor is song. Everyone has one, everyone has something unique to share, and it is genuinely valuable. But you get thrown off when you copy someone else's path instead of taking the time to hear your own.
Why clarity starts with space, not more effort
Michele asked how Marco helps his own family tune in. He described his wife Claudia's journey honestly. At first she did not fully understand what he was pursuing, and she focused on doing a good job as a mom and a wife. Now she is coaching alongside him and, in his words, on fire with her passion.
The turning point was mental space. Marco believes what keeps most people from finding their spark is simple busyness. We keep folding the clothes, cooking the food, helping the kids, and moving through the routine without ever asking what we actually like.
He also pushes back on a narrow idea of creativity. He says everyone is an artist. Claudia might not have called herself one, but her expression shows up in home improvements, in changing the house, in the way she dresses. Your expression may not look like anyone else's, and that does not make it less real.
How to move from a vague desire to a definite purpose
Marco's first step with students is belief. He uses an affirmation drawn from Napoleon Hill's self-confidence formula: I know that I have the ability to achieve my definite purpose in life. He says the world is full of influences that make a woman set down a fleeting idea, whether that is singing, speaking to groups, or working with animals, because limiting beliefs arrive first. Not rich enough. Not talented enough.
After the affirmation comes writing. For a couple of weeks his students write about their dreams and what they really want, engaging imagination with no logical brakes. Clarity builds from there. Some people resist because they fear disappointment, so Marco keeps reinforcing the belief underneath.
He also suggests compressing the timeline. If a goal logically takes three years, decide to do it this year. That decision removes the comfort of external evidence and sends you inward, where you learn to trust intuition and unseen support.
The RISE method: a practical way to reach vantage
Marco's pattern for quieting the noise is an acronym: RISE. The goal is to reach what he calls vantage, a place of clear vision where you see the bigger picture instead of being stuck in self-doubt.
- Relax. If stress is high, start physically with a walk, a run, or pushups. Then sit for two to three minutes and deliberately release tension in your brain and body.
- Imagine. From that relaxed state, place yourself in a beautiful setting in nature, then ask how you would handle your child's problem or a financial challenge from there.
- Sense. Anchor to the present by touching, seeing, and hearing what is around you. Marco says most problems come from racing ahead or replaying the past.
- Enjoy. He believes we were meant to be happy, and that learning how to be happy is connected to creating abundance.
"You prioritize your serenity, and you'll be better for the whole world. So if you wanna serve, make that your priority."
What Marco wants women to stop believing
Near the end, Marco named the belief he sees most often in women: that they are not enough. He connects it to worthiness. Many people accept that a higher power wants to give good things, then decide their mistakes and shortcomings disqualify them.
His answer is not more striving. It is closing the distance. He says the daily goal is to remove the gap you feel between yourself and spirit, because that distance is what creates the problems. Michele agreed, adding that when we feed the spirit, we can do far more than when we try to carry everything alone.
Action Steps
- Schedule two to three minutes of deliberate physical relaxation before you handle the hard thing on your list.
- Spend two weeks writing freely about what you actually want, with no logical brakes and no editing for realism.
- Take a goal you assumed would take three years and decide what doing it within one year would require.
- Write a greater self script and read it daily, as Claudia does, to keep your goal in front of you.
- Notice one place where you are managing someone else's opinion, and choose your own inspiration instead.
Pick one piece of this today. Sit down, relax for three minutes, and write a single page about what you would do if no one was watching and nothing was stopping you. That page is where your song starts to get audible again.
About the guest
Marco Lopez
Marco Lopez is a Peak Performance Strategist, speaker, author, and father of five. He helps leaders quiet the noise in their heads so they can think clearly, decide well, and get more done without straining. He grew up in constant motion, more than forty moves before he was nine, two countries, and a family that came apart, with a mind he couldn't count on from one day to the next. He assumed something was wrong with him. What he learned, from his father's writings on mental clarity and his grandfather's books on purpose, was that his capacity was never the problem. The noise sitting on top of it was. As founder of MindTune, he teaches people to tune the mind the way a musician tunes an instrument, fitting, since before he was a strategist he was a technology executive and a professionally trained opera singer. He lost his singing voice on a stage in Brazil in his early twenties and got it back nearly twenty years later, using the same work he now teaches. Trilingual in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, Marco has worked with more than 5,000 leaders across four continents. He is the author of Tune In: The Human Edge in an Age of Noise. He believes the highest performance and the most meaningful life come from the same place, a quiet, clear, trusting mind. Marco Lopez is the Founder of Mind Tune and a performance strategist specializing in mental clarity, subconscious reprogramming, and high-performance thinking. He helps entrepreneurs and professionals break through mental barriers and unlock their next level of success.

Marco Lopez: Thank you. Michele Morley: Yeah. Marco Lopez: Happy to be here, [00:01:30] Michele. Michele Morley: Yeah. So this is quite an extensive, uh…
Your life [00:01:35] experience has been pretty amazing, you know, as I read over [00:01:40] what you have done. What, what impacted you to be where you are today? Marco Lopez: When I [00:01:45] was little, I mean, ever since I was, I was younger, I’ve always, um, [00:01:50] had a lot of desires. I, I’ve, I’ve wanted so many things. It was so hard for me to choose a career [00:01:55] because I wanted so many things.
I, um, my, my parents [00:02:00] encouraged me to do, um, things that I… They gave me, like, a pencil to [00:02:05] draw with, and my mom had me singing when I was younger. I, I [00:02:10] I had a unique upbringing with a lot of animals. We had a lot of wild [00:02:15] animals growing up. Michele Morley: Oh, wow.
Marco Lopez: And so, like, this connection with nature and, and [00:02:20] music and, and drawing and languages and different cultures, um, were all a part [00:02:25] of my upbringing. And so when, um, I, I was always really interested in [00:02:30] what I could do with it, like what, what it could turn into. And so when people wanted [00:02:35] to push me towards one profession or, like, be an engineer or be a doctor [00:02:40] or since I liked animals, be a veterinarian, none of it seemed like it was, like it was [00:02:45] encompassing, like, like it could— uh, like I’d have to shut off part of myself in order to be that. [00:02:50] And so I think that I’ve just, I’ve wanted too much.
I’ve had too many desires, [00:02:55] wanted too much, and, and I’ve always been very hungry to see what I could do. Michele Morley: That’s, [00:03:00] um- Marco Lopez: Yeah … Michele Morley: interesting. I love that you didn’t kind of put yourself in a box. Marco Lopez: Yeah.
Right. [00:03:05] Michele Morley: And a lot of people do. Marco Lopez: Yeah. Michele Morley: So how did you help yourself, [00:03:10] or were there people that were influential in your life to help you see what your true [00:03:15] passion was then? Marco Lopez: Michele, when you said that, I thought of one, one person when I [00:03:20] was in, in college who gave me, gave me a little bit of advice.
Uh, it [00:03:25] was a, it was a person who I went to church with and, um- He was [00:03:30] a, a professor high up, um, at BYU where I went to school, and he, [00:03:35] he encouraged me. He said, “Just go for what you like. Just do what you like.” And so that led me [00:03:40] to different things. I, I studied music.
I studied, um, [00:03:45] Spanish and Portuguese. I ended up majoring in Latin American studies. I [00:03:50] minored in business because I thought maybe I could find a creative way to use what I liked. [00:03:55] And so that was a really good piece of advice, to just listen for what I liked [00:04:00] and, and follow what I liked. Michele Morley: Yeah.
Marco Lopez: Which was very different from other advice where it seemed like so many [00:04:05] people were, were following money, were trying to pursue, you know, what, what could make them the most [00:04:10] money. Mm-hmm. And I’m glad that I, that I listened to what I [00:04:15] liked. Michele Morley: That’s a huge indicator- Yeah … For a lot of people that- Marco Lopez: Yeah Michele Morley: to pursue something [00:04:20] that brings- Yeah …
Monetary value. Yeah. Right? Marco Lopez: Yeah. Michele Morley: But that’s not [00:04:25] necessarily where we find our value.
Marco Lopez: That’s right. Okay. That’s right. Even your financial value you [00:04:30] find when you learn to listen to yourself. You know, if we just believe that we all have, [00:04:35] um, that we all have something unique.
Um, and [00:04:40] you know, with my s- I have a singing background and, and so the metaphor that I use a lot is, is [00:04:45] song, that we all have a song. We all have something unique to share, and it [00:04:50] is powerful, and it is, it is incredibly valuable. But we’re gonna be [00:04:55] thrown off if we’re just trying to pursue money or do what somebody else is doing rather than taking the time [00:05:00] to really listen to what, what is our thing. Michele Morley: So you’re married. Marco Lopez: I am married.
Michele Morley: You have a [00:05:05] wife and, you know, family. Marco Lopez: Yep. Michele Morley: How have you been able to help your [00:05:10] wife and your children- Marco Lopez: Mm … Michele Morley: tune into what, [00:05:15] how to pursue things that of, of interest or to be, you know, to [00:05:20] tune in to those desires that… Just like you’re talking about, but how do you- Yeah …
Teach that to [00:05:25] other people? Marco Lopez: Yeah, that’s a really good question. I, I’ve met with… I mean, I’ve, I’ve, uh, [00:05:30] I’ve coached a lot of women, and my wife’s journey has been really interesting. Her journey has [00:05:35] been very interesting because at first, um, she didn’t really understand [00:05:40] what I was doing, what I was wanting to pursue.
Um, now this is my, it’s my [00:05:45] second marriage. I had a marriage previous that didn’t, that didn’t work out, um, after six years of marriage. [00:05:50] But, uh, but Claudia is, um, she, [00:05:55] she was kind of [00:06:00] At first she was very rigid or, or just, just wanted to, um, [00:06:05] wanted to do a good job as a mom and as a wife. Mm-hmm. But lately she’s really, [00:06:10] like, she’s on fire right now with her passion and everything.
And her passion is, is being a [00:06:15] coach like me in the company. She’s doing this, she’s doing this with me, and she’s really getting into it. [00:06:20] But the biggest thing for her was w- was being able to create [00:06:25] space, create mental space for it, because I think what keeps people from finding that unique [00:06:30] spark that they have is just too much busyness. Our lives are too crowded. We just keep [00:06:35] folding the clothes, keep cooking the food, keep helping the kids, keep, um, [00:06:40] d- going through our daily routine, and we don’t really take the s- the time to ask the questions of what do I [00:06:45] really like?
What, what is my expression? I think everyone’s an artist, and my, [00:06:50] my wife may not have called herself an artist, but she is definitely an artist, and she loves [00:06:55] expression in home improvements and doing things around the house, making ch- [00:07:00] like making changes- Mm to the house and to the way she dresses. And, and, [00:07:05] and so all those things are her expression. But at first she wasn’t— I think she was a little unclear with [00:07:10] what her expression was, ‘cause I have a lot of expression things that are very clear, like [00:07:15] drawing is easily an expression thing, and singing and, um, languages [00:07:20] can be a way of express- expression.
And so… But every- everybody’s an artist and [00:07:25] we, we, we need to learn what our expression is. Michele Morley: So how do we gain that clarity? [00:07:30] How have you been able to, um, coach and, and- Yeah … Influence [00:07:35] people to find that clarity?
Marco Lopez: The first thing that, that we wanna do is, is [00:07:40] help them Realize, really, really buy into the idea that you do [00:07:45] have a definite purpose. Like you have a clear, deep purpose. There is something there. Even if [00:07:50] you don’t know what it is, there’s something there. And so that’s kind of the idea that we wanna affirm [00:07:55] at first, that I know, um, and this came from a Napoleon Hill self-confidence [00:08:00] formula.
He says, “I know that I have the ability to achieve my definite purpose in life.” [00:08:05] And, uh, and so that’s the affirmation that we want to, that we want to get, because there’s so [00:08:10] many influences in life that, that cause us to think that maybe we can’t do it, that maybe that [00:08:15] fleeting idea that came up once where you’re like, “I think I’d really like to, to sing,” [00:08:20] or, “I think I’d really like to speak in front of groups,” or, “I think I’d really like to work with [00:08:25] animals.” Whatever it is, that idea can come, but then people push it aside because of all the [00:08:30] limiting beliefs that come up.
“No, I’m not rich enough. I’m not talented enough. I don’t have this or that [00:08:35] ability.” And so, um, uh, and so we need to always work against [00:08:40] that or, or always reinforce the idea that we actually do have the ability to achieve our [00:08:45] definite purpose in life and to express our desires, and so give those [00:08:50] desires the attention that they need. So in this group, they’re affirming that idea, [00:08:55] um, and then they, they do their best over…
It, it’s a period of a couple of weeks where people are [00:09:00] just writing, where, um, my students are writing. They’re writing about their [00:09:05] dreams. They’re writing about what they really want. They’re just engaging their imagination with no logical breaks to stop [00:09:10] them. And after a couple weeks, you get, you gain a lot more clarity.
You can really… You know, [00:09:15] you start to dream and fantasize and, and, uh, sometimes people are uncomfortable with that [00:09:20] because they think they’ll be disappointed if they can’t do it. But just keep reinforcing that idea that you actually do [00:09:25] have the ability to do it. Michele Morley: And gaining the confidence to be able to take the step forward- Marco Lopez: Yeah … Michele Morley: in [00:09:30] that, whether it’s big or small.
Marco Lopez: Right. Michele Morley: But every th- do you think that you have to… And when [00:09:35] you kind of do, like, goal setting- Yeah … You write everything down, you do goal setting. Marco Lopez: Yeah.
Michele Morley: Do [00:09:40] you feel it’s valuable to create time frames? Or, [00:09:45] um, how do you hone in to being able to make those steps of, “Okay, [00:09:50] this is what I love. This is what I wanna go for.” Um, how do you [00:09:55] get people making that next step? Marco Lopez: Yeah.
Well, I think y- we’ve gotta go for things that are [00:10:00] exciting to us. Mm-hmm. Because nobody, nobody’s gonna get excited about a goal that’s just [00:10:05] logical or, or that’s just kinda that next step. So I like to think, I like to help people dream [00:10:10] big about something they would really, really like, and just make a decision that’s gonna crunch [00:10:15] time, that would make… Like if, if logically they would think about doing it in three years, why [00:10:20] not do it this year?
Do it this year, you know? M- do it within one year. And then that’s going [00:10:25] to force a couple of things, or it’s going to open you up to a few things. First of all- [00:10:30] That goal that was logical in three years or [00:10:35] maybe five years, when you decide you’re gonna do it in one year, then you can’t, [00:10:40] you can’t go with all the external evidences to make it happen. You’ve gotta go [00:10:45] inside.
And then the spiritual thing opens up, right? Then you, then, then you’ve [00:10:50] gotta learn to rely on forces that you can’t see, trust in intuitions, [00:10:55] and, and you learn to listen to yourself more, because that’s where all the answers are. Michele Morley: [00:11:00] Yeah. So trusting in the process. Tru- trusting in the process, yeah.
You know, not only in yourself, but in trusting [00:11:05] in the process. And we were talking to some- You gotta trust, yeah … I was talking to somebody else- Marco Lopez: Yeah … Michele Morley: um, you know, [00:11:10] in another, uh, podcast- Yeah … And we were talking about how you [00:11:15] find within yourself to break down the barriers of fear [00:11:20] or what you don’t feel that you’re worthy of.
Do you feel like that’s a, a kind of a [00:11:25] roadblock for a lot of women, is that, that feeling of worthiness or [00:11:30] the fear of being able to make a difference? I feel like women are nurturers naturally. [00:11:35] Mm-hmm. So if they are, are they more inclined to do [00:11:40] something that’s making a difference in other people’s lives? Marco Lopez: Well, I, I’ve seen women as [00:11:45] natural, naturally very service-oriented.
They want to serve, they want to impact, they wanna make a difference. [00:11:50] And that really is the basis of everything that I teach, is it’s all about that. But [00:11:55] sometimes people think, “Well, what about w- you know, why can I, how can I really make a difference? How can I, [00:12:00] you know, what, what do people really need me for? Um, I think I’m [00:12:05] bothering people if I step out and wanna help them with this or that.”
And so that’s [00:12:10] where we, we learn— We’ve gotta learn to shift our polarity, because [00:12:15] the polarity in the world, uh, just in the general, um, [00:12:20] flow of the world is, is that, is we care about [00:12:25] what other people think. We’re trying to please other people, but we gotta forget about that. We— If you have [00:12:30] something to say, stand up and say it, but let your inspiration be a deeper [00:12:35] spiritual feeling that you have. Let that spirit inspire [00:12:40] you to speak and forget about what other people are thinking. That’s, that’s so important for singers [00:12:45] too.
And so I think I could relate, um, moms or, or [00:12:50] women to singers because they have a song to sing. Mm-hmm. And you know, when, when you’re singing, [00:12:55] the, the, the roadblock that people have when they’re [00:13:00] singing is they start to sing, they’re like[00:13:05] Silent [00:13:10] night Holy. Oh, that doesn’t sound good. That doesn’t [00:13:15] sound…
So something there sounded bad, right? And n- now we’re starting to criticize ourselves, and so we’re looking [00:13:20] inward, where if you can come from, like, an inner place where you’re thinking about [00:13:25] something, you’re think- you’re just imagining that picture of the silent night, [00:13:30] and then it’s like, “Silent night, [00:13:35] holy night.” And then you just keep going. But, but you have to, we have to lose the fear of [00:13:40] what other people are gonna think about us, because everybody’s gonna sound bad until they sound good, right? [00:13:45] We’ve all gotta go through that, but when, when people are too concerned about what other people think, [00:13:50] they, um, w- we s- we put on the brakes before we can even get started.
Michele Morley: [00:13:55] Yeah. Marco Lopez: And so we’ve gotta learn to trust what we have inside and just keep going from that, and kinda just, [00:14:00] we gotta lose the l- stop worrying and even stop caring about what other people think. Michele Morley: [00:14:05] Mm-hmm. Which is- Yeah … Tricky for so many people.
Yeah. But I absolutely agree that- Yeah … [00:14:10] um, the more we think about what other people are thinking of us- Yeah and that [00:14:15] negativity fills their mind, and it really, it hinders our progress, right? [00:14:20] It, Marco Lopez: it does. Michele Morley: And life is about progressing, at least in my opinion.
Yeah. As long [00:14:25] as we’re continually progressing. Yeah. And that’s my concern or [00:14:30] kind of, uh, my hope is that women see [00:14:35] their capabilities, that anybody can see what their capabilities are- Yeah and what [00:14:40] they can offer. And so with your book, what do you touch on, um- Yeah …
[00:14:45] in there that you find are valuable little nuggets that- Marco Lopez: [00:14:50] Yeah … Michele Morley: that you could share with us? Marco Lopez: Yeah. Well, the, the human edge in an [00:14:55] age of noise, right? The human edge is that ability to connect to [00:15:00] inspiration- Mm …
The spiritual part of us. Mm-hmm. So that spiritual part is [00:15:05] everything, because so many people are comparing themselves to AI, they’re comparing themselves to robots, [00:15:10] but robots can never compare to inspiration. They, they can never compete [00:15:15] with the inspiration of a human being. And so what people are learning now, what, what [00:15:20] the world is learning, is that all that stuff that you had to memorize in college, that you had to [00:15:25] memorize and just copy what somebody else was thinking, that is becoming [00:15:30] so worthless now.
Like, it’s becoming… It, it’s… The most important thing that a [00:15:35] person can do is learn how to be quiet, how to quiet themselves, how to find time for quiet, [00:15:40] and listen to what they have. Listen to their song. Listen for their song, because [00:15:45] that is the inspiration.
These days, somebody who has a strong song inside or [00:15:50] somebody who has a strong, um, that strong purpose calling them, [00:15:55] like, th- if you nurture your purpose, it will get stronger and stronger and stronger- Yeah where it’s, [00:16:00] like, tangible and, and you, you know what it is. Yeah. But if you don’t nurture it, you don’t, [00:16:05] you never really find out. You never really find out. And, and, and so these days- The [00:16:10] people with a purpose, with a strong North Star and a, a strong direction [00:16:15] are able to leverage AI.
They’re able to get it to move faster than they [00:16:20] could ever move before, and they’re, they’re just magnified. But the people who are [00:16:25] lost are the people who don’t really have that purpose. And so right now, the most valuable thing [00:16:30] that we can have is a clear idea of who we are and what we want. Michele Morley: And how to quiet those voi- [00:16:35] the noise and the- Yeah … Voices of, you know.
Marco Lopez: And, and Michele Morley: that’s- So what kind of pattern- That’s the big Marco Lopez: thing. Michele Morley: Yeah. That’s, [00:16:40] that’s the biggest thing. So what are your patterns then? What do you encourage other people to do to find that quiet- [00:16:45] Marco Lopez: Yeah …
Michele Morley: in a very busy, busy life and- Yeah … You know, it’s [00:16:50] the rat race out there. So how do you- Yeah … What do you encourage people to do? Marco Lopez: Okay.
So I’ll, I’ll give [00:16:55] you a, uh, I’ll give you a, a pattern. I call it rising, okay? Okay. The, the, [00:17:00] we’re going to rise, and the goal is to reach this point that I call vantage. [00:17:05] Vantage is a place of advantage.
It’s a place where y- where your vision is clear, [00:17:10] where you can see the bigger picture of things, sh- and where you’re not stuck in self-doubt and self-fear and [00:17:15] all that stuff. And so we wanna rise, and RISE is an acronym. Michele Morley: Mm-hmm. Marco Lopez: And so [00:17:20] RISE stands for relax, imagine [00:17:25] Sense and enjoy Okay Marco Lopez: Okay? So [00:17:30] RISE, so, so the R is first relax.
And so I’m thinking of a, [00:17:35] a woman who is, you know, feeling stressed. Maybe the kids have [00:17:40] been hard or maybe the, um, the work, whatever work she’s done in a day has [00:17:45] been very, very challenging and she’s definitely not performing at her best. If she’s reactive, [00:17:50] if she’s stressed, if she’s heavy, she’s definitely not at her best. Mm-hmm. And so the purpose [00:17:55] of RISE is to help you find that best self, that place of vantage where you’re [00:18:00] at your very best.
You’ll multiply your capacity that way. You’ll multiply your ability to do [00:18:05] everything. So the first thing is, is relax. And sometimes we’re so [00:18:10] stressed that we need something physical. Like you might have to go for a walk or a run [00:18:15] or a, or do like pushups or something to be able to get out your [00:18:20] stress.
Play with the cat, yeah. Play with the cat. You, you might- Sure … Might have to do something physical. But then as soon as you, as [00:18:25] soon as you’re able to, you just sit and you just relax.
Mm-hmm. And a lot of people [00:18:30] resist this part because they think they’re too busy to relax. “Oh, I can’t sit down for five minutes and do nothing.” Right. We’re too [00:18:35] programmed to just keep going.
But you wanna stop, you wanna relax, relax your brain. Just [00:18:40] think about relaxing all the neurons in your brain, just every part of your head, just think of [00:18:45] relaxing that. Mm-hmm. And relax your whole body. Let all the tension out.
And [00:18:50] I would extend that to like two to three minutes even. Like just go through that and like [00:18:55] physically allow yourself to completely relax. You’ll feel yourself more capable after that. If [00:19:00] you don’t believe it for you, think about it for your kids. When your kids are like- Sure …
Tight and they’re like s- having [00:19:05] a tantrum and everything- Yeah … Get them to relax- Sure … And watch how things change, right? That [00:19:10] then you can actually reason with them, you can talk to them. Mm-hmm.
Um, and so first thing is relax. Second [00:19:15] thing is imagine. So from that state of relaxation, now you are [00:19:20] free to imagine. You can imagine yourself in a state. So I have people imagine like a state of [00:19:25] beauty, a state of, um, like imagining a beautiful place in nature and putting [00:19:30] yourself physically in that place.
Michele Morley: Sure. Marco Lopez: And so y- you do that. And even if you, if you wanna [00:19:35] pause this and think about that for a little bit, really put yourself there. Michele Morley: Mm-hmm. Marco Lopez: You’ll find that after [00:19:40] you do that you’re, you’re more capable.
You think, “Okay, how would I handle my [00:19:45] kid’s problem that he came and told me about from this place? Would I handle it better or would I handle it worse?” [00:19:50] Better. Obviously a lot better, right? “How would I handle this financial [00:19:55] challenge from this place?
Oh, well I can handle it better,” right? You, you can do it and you can do it a lot better. [00:20:00] And so that’s the I and then S is sensory. So that’s like [00:20:05] engaging in the moment, being present, touching the flowers, feeling the, um, [00:20:10] feeling the, the rain. Just touching and seeing and living in the [00:20:15] present moment as you go through life.
All your problems are because we get ahead of ourselves or we’re thinking [00:20:20] about the past. If you can just live in the present, it leads to being happy. If you’re not [00:20:25] living your days happy, you’re not doing it right. Mm-hmm. ‘Cause there’s a, there’s a way, if we can learn [00:20:30] how to be happy, we can learn how to create abundance.
Michele Morley: Okay. Marco Lopez: So all that takes us [00:20:35] to vantage where we can see the bigger picture, and we find ourselves way more capable for doing [00:20:40] the work that we’ve always done. Michele Morley: Okay, so relax- Yeah … Imagine. Marco Lopez: Relax, imagine, [00:20:45] sense.
Michele Morley: Sensory. Marco Lopez: So, like, touch and see- Okay … Hear and anchor yourself to the present, you know? [00:20:50] Michele Morley: Okay. I love Marco Lopez: that.
And then enjoy. Okay. And then just, like, enjoy. We were meant [00:20:55] to be happy. Michele Morley: Yeah.
Okay. Marco Lopez: Yeah. Michele Morley: Those are, those are great tips. I [00:21:00] love that. And to be able to pull yourself back from a moment, you know- Marco Lopez: Yes …
Michele Morley: um, to [00:21:05] just be able to take those breaths or to imagine something- Yeah … That calms your, you know, your [00:21:10] soul. And granted, there are times that’s not achievable in the very [00:21:15] moment. Mm-hmm. But as long as you kind of create a pattern- Mm-hmm …
For that. [00:21:20] So what about, um, practices that you do daily that helps you [00:21:25] feel that you’re in tune with, um, your goals, your desires? [00:21:30] Marco Lopez: So practices, um, is writing out the goal every day, like writing [00:21:35] out, remembering it. Th- ‘cause you’re right, Michele, that’s the, that’s the other piece of it. [00:21:40] One is learning how to relax and rise and that, but the, the reason why we need that [00:21:45] is because we set a big goal, right?
And so if you’re s- if you set a big goal, you [00:21:50] just, you wanna look at it every day. You wanna listen to it. And so [00:21:55] I, I’ve, I very much endorse creating a greater self script, a, a, a script that represents [00:22:00] your greater self. My wife is, is doing it and having such great results from it. But [00:22:05] just l- you know, re- reciting and writing out actually her [00:22:10] personal script every day.
She’s writing that out to remind her of that, and then [00:22:15] she’s in the rise every day. She’s… We can live in the world, but we can live in our [00:22:20] imaginations above the world. We can live in a higher place that is beautiful, and [00:22:25] then it’s like we can handle the kids, the finances, the challenges, the [00:22:30] physical issues that we’re dealing with, all of that from a higher place. Michele Morley: So do you believe in [00:22:35] the concept of balance?
Marco Lopez: I believe in spirit. I believe that we can [00:22:40] connect with our spiritual side, and that the spiritual side knows exactly what’s needed. [00:22:45] And so I think there’s only one thing we need to do, and that is quiet the noise and learn how to tune into spirit. [00:22:50] Like I said, live from that higher place, from vantage where you’re in a higher place, [00:22:55] and from there, just touch things. Y- you’ll know if your kid needs more attention now [00:23:00] or your husband or your career or your [00:23:05] cooking or orderliness or, or whatever it is, your talents, whatever it is that you’re working [00:23:10] on, you’ll know what needs more attention.
And, uh, and so yes, there’s, there is a [00:23:15] balance between… I know that for me, part of quieting my mind and keeping my mind consistently [00:23:20] quiet requires daily exercise, so I do it every day. I went swimming this morning. I go swimming [00:23:25] almost every day. Oh, Michele Morley: wow.
Marco Lopez: And, and I, I love it. Michele Morley: I used to be a creature of [00:23:30] habit. Mm-hmm. I would work out every day, and that has not been a part of my daily life- Yeah … [00:23:35] um, even though there have been some physical challenges with that.
Yeah. But I agree that there is [00:23:40] something about moving your body- Yeah … You know? And it’s ti- and, and I [00:23:45] too also think that Having a moment of quiet, whe- whether it’s prayer, [00:23:50] meditation, just to, you know, to bring yourself to that, “I can do this.” Yeah.
You know, I’ve [00:23:55] got- Yeah … What- whatever the day has, I can do this. Marco Lopez: Yeah. And there’s a way that you can [00:24:00] actually stay in that place of quiet. Even as you’re going through the busyness, even as the world is [00:24:05] chaotic around you, there’s a way that you can hold onto that.
You can grab a hold of that stillness, [00:24:10] that peace, that place of bliss, and you cannot let go. And that’s the thing. That… [00:24:15] I- if people would do that, just make that their number one priority, to be quiet and to be still [00:24:20] and not let the demands of the day or their kids rush them and get them [00:24:25] frenzied, they, uh, we would do so much better. All of us would do so much better.
And so [00:24:30] that is the key, is if you could learn how to grab a hold of that quiet place and not let go of it for [00:24:35] any intimidating person, for any kid that’s screaming, for any meal that’s [00:24:40] overdue, late or whatever, like, don’t let anything that happens pull you out of that [00:24:45] place. You prioritize your serenity, and you’ll be better for the whole world. So if you wanna serve, [00:24:50] make that your priority. Michele Morley: And, and it’s a mindset. Marco Lopez: It is.
Michele Morley: And you have to train yourself to [00:24:55] be able to think that way. Marco Lopez: Yeah. Michele Morley: Um, I appreciate that. So many [00:25:00] golden nuggets, so many valuable insights, you know, with Rise and, and I [00:25:05] appreciate your time with us today and sharing your, um, your [00:25:10] wisdom, and I… And, and seeking that clarity, and it’s achievable.
Yeah. And I [00:25:15] think sometimes- Absolutely … People feel that it might not be achievable at certain phases [00:25:20] in life, but I think it can be. Marco Lopez: It is achievable. Mm-hmm.
And when you were saying that, I just, I thought [00:25:25] of one thing, Michele, and that is that so many women, um, [00:25:30] believe that they’re not enough. Michele Morley: Right. Marco Lopez: Believe that they’re not enough, and that is, [00:25:35] again, we go spiritual because the, the, um, [00:25:40] the whole basis to, um- [00:25:45] The whole basis to spirituality is, is [00:25:50] believing that there is a higher power and that that higher power wants to give us good [00:25:55] things. But a lot of people feel like they’re not worthy of that. Right.
Like, we feel like the things that [00:26:00] we’ve done or the mistakes that we’ve made or our shortcomings or because we’re not good at this, we’re [00:26:05] not rising up to that level. But the truth is we’ve got to get over that because we actually are [00:26:10] good enough, and there’s a way that you can feel that unity with spirit every day. And if you can [00:26:15] feel that, then you feel like you’re enough. And so that really is the goal every day is to, is to, [00:26:20] um, get rid of that distance that you’re feeling between you and spirit and [00:26:25] just, and live from that higher place. Because that, that distance is what, it’s what’s creating all the [00:26:30] problems.
Michele Morley: I couldn’t agree more. Marco Lopez: Yeah. Michele Morley: That is so good. And, um, [00:26:35] yeah, that is… I love that, is that when we feed the spirit- Marco Lopez: Yep …
Michele Morley: there’s [00:26:40] so mu- I feel like we’re able to do so much more- Marco Lopez: Mm … Michele Morley: than we, you know, [00:26:45] when we’re trying to do it on our own. Marco Lopez: Yeah. It’s heavy when we’re trying to do it on our own. Michele Morley: Yeah.
Thank you, [00:26:50] Marco. You’re welcome. I appreciate you being with me today and the valuable insight that you have [00:26:55] shared with us. Thank you for being with us on Yes Women’s Network podcast, and we hope to see you [00:27:00] again next time [00:27:05] [00:27:10] [00:27:15] [00:27:20] [00:27:25] [00:27:30]
